Finalizing the SCP:SL server verification

Terabit.io is the official partner of Northwood Studios, and as such, all our deployed SCP:SL game servers (Except for those who have a dedicated IP Address) come as auto-verified.

This means that all you have to do to appear on the official SCP:SL server list is the steps below. Please follow the steps carefully.

||| Your server must follow all of the stipulations set forth by Northwood Studios in the "Verified Server Rules" (VSR) document to retain the verified status.

Navigate to your configuration file. This is located at .config/SCP Secret Laboratory/configs/YOURPORTNUMBER/config_gameplay.txt.
You will need to change the following config values: "servername: server name", "serverinfopastebinid: link" and "contactemail: email"
The server name is gonna be your server name as it appears on the browser. This name supports basic HTML markdown tags. Follow this guide.
Go to pastebin.com and create a new paste. This document will be accessible to players in-game, offering information about your SCP:SL server.
Make sure the pastebin is set to "public" and to "never expire". Add the pastebin ID to your link from step 2. The pastebin ID looks like xJ8Kk0A8.

Installing and configuring Exiled plugins

Plugins are powerful tools that assist with tasks such as administration tools, gameplay modifications, entertainment, and various utilities.

To install these plugins, visit the Exiled Plugin Framework Discord to explore the range of currently supported and community-made plugins.

Almost all plugins will have a dedicated GitHub page for the project, similar to the one below. Follow this project to know about updates, etc.

To download the plugin, click on 'Releases' located on the right-hand side of the page. This action will direct you to a page similar to the following:

This page displays the project's release history. The newest and most up-to-date plugin version available will always be listed first at the top of the page.

Some plugins will provide you with a DLL file (the name of the file will end with ".dll"). Other plugins, like the one above, provide a ".tar.gz" archive instead, which contains the plugin .dll file, as well as any necessary dependencies the plugin requires to run. For .tar.gz archives, the install process is the same, with the exception of one additional step:

Download the plugin files from the Github page and save the downloaded file to your computer.

Updating your SCP:SL server

You will be notified via the SCP:SL discord server when a game update is released, or you can check https://scpslgame.com/news/ to see when a new game update is released. You will need to update your server manually when a new game update has been released. You will need to head on over to your settings, and then reinstall the server.

The reinstall process will take a couple of minutes, and will update all of your game files without removing or deleting anything. Although the panel may warn of potential deletions, for SCP:SL servers, the installation process does not actually delete any files. This method is completely safe and is the only way to automatically update SCP:SL.

In the event that your server has not updated after the steps above, go to the Startup then type "public" in the Special Branch as shown below, then reinstall the server again.

My server isn't on the server list?

Have you verified your server? Getting your server listed involves several steps, and you can find more information about this process here. If that's not the issue, ensure your server is set to be publicly visible; this could involve incorrect verification settings or configuration issues. If problems persist, please contact our team.

My server crashes, or it doesn't start?

Ensure that both your plugins and server are up-to-date. Verify the accuracy of your configuration, as incorrect settings could cause crashes. Review error messages in both your server console and LocalAdmin log files (located in .config/SCP Secret Laboratory/LocalAdminLogs/PORT/), which are typically marked with '[ERROR]' or 'exception.' If problems persist, please contact our team.

Modifying your server name in SCP:SL

You can add colored server names by using Rich Text Formatting. The game allows you to use hexadecimal color codes to style your server name.

Open the Server Configuration File: Locate the config_gameplay.txt file in your server's configuration folder.
In the server_name field, you can add hexadecimal color codes to change the color of the text. The format is:

<color=#RRGGBB>Terabit Hosting Server Example</color>

If you want your server name to appear in ${color}#1f51e5, you could write the following:

<color=#0000FF>Terabit Hosting Blue Example</color>

You can also ${color}#e72323 different ${color}#12ca61 sections ${color}#1f51e5 the server name:

<color=#FF0000>Red Terabit</color><color=#00FF00>Green Hosting</color><color=#0000FF>Blue Example</color>

This would display the server name with "Red," "Green," and "Blue" in their respective colors.

After editing, save the configuration file and restart the server to apply the changes.

Running an MTR test on Windows

MTR (My TraceRoute) is a traceroute tool that tests the network connection path between two physical machines over the internet. Combining the functionality of a ping and a traceroute, a MTR allows you to constantly poll a remote server, and see how the latency and performance changes over the path your connection takes across the internet.

There are various reasons our team may request you to provide an MTR report. For example, if you are having an unusual issue with latency, that we are unable to reproduce ourselves, seeing an MTR report may allow us insight into where the issue may be originating. It is always advisable to include a MTR when reporting potential network issues.

To obtain an MTR report on Windows, you will first need to install WinMTR. You can download it here. Once installed, start WinMTR, then follow the steps below.

In the 'Host' field, enter the domain name or IP address of the server you wish to target for your connection test.
Click the 'Start' button and allow the test to run for approximately 10 minutes before clicking the 'Stop' button.
